This is my mother's quick bread recipe.  She gave this recipe to my cousin in NE when they lived there.  When I recently visited her she had made this bread and told me it was my mother's recipe.  I had her send me the recipe, it made my day.  My mother passed away in 1990 and I know she would love it if I shared it with you.

Ingredients:

1 egg

1 c. sugar

1/2 c. sour cream

1/4 c. water

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

1 1/2 c. flour

Chopped pecans or walnuts

Directions:

Heat oven to 325 degrees.  Combine egg and sugar and stir.  Add sour cream and water and stir.  Add baking soda and salt; then add flour and nuts.  Bake in a glass loaf pan (if you don't have one, a metal pan will work just fine).  Bake for 45 minutes or until a tooth pick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

Thank you for sharing your very special family recipe with us, Julie.  My mother passed away in February of 2007, her name was Julie too and I am sure she would have loved this! :o) - Michelle
